Doc’s Place is a therapeutic group home designed to provide comprehensive behavioral health support for at-risk youth ages 17-21. As an extension of Ibukun’s commitment to empowering young people, Doc’s Place serves as a “step forward” for youth who have made significant progress in their treatment journey. At Doc’s Place, residents receive individual and group therapy, case management, mentoring, counseling, nursing services, and recreational activities—all within a structured and supportive environment. The home features both single and double bedrooms, along with dedicated spaces for programming, recreation, and therapeutic services to ensure holistic care. Our programming is rooted in evidence-based, trauma-informed principles, fostering an atmosphere where youth feel safe, valued, and equipped to continue their path toward independence and well-being.
IBUKUN envisions a future where at-risk youth and families in urban communities achieve lasting psychological growth, develop strong values, and build positive relationships that empower them to thrive. Through support, guidance, and opportunity, we strive to create a foundation for resilience, stability, and meaningful human connection.

IBUKUN Comprehensive Community Services aims to provide holistic, interdisciplinary care for at-risk youth and families by fostering collaboration among social workers, therapists, psychologists, and psychiatrists. By partnering with educators, healthcare providers, judicial personnel, law enforcement, and state agencies, we ensure that children and their families receive comprehensive support, accurate information, and effective treatment to promote long-term stability and well-being.
Launched on November 4, 2024, Doc’s Place Hip-Hop Therapy Program has seen 82% engagement, with five out of seven youth participating at 90% or higher in the first quarter.
This innovative program blends music, lyricism, and therapy, using narrative and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help youth process emotions, reframe experiences, and build resilience. Research shows music therapy can reduce depression and PTSD symptoms by up to 35%.
In collaboration with the Chicago Hip-Hop Heritage Museum and Columbia College, youth gain hands-on experience in music production, deepening engagement and fostering creative expression.

Studies show mentored youth are 55% more likely to enroll in college and 78% more likely to volunteer. Engaging in hobbies reduces anxiety and depression by up to 40%.
At Doc’s Place, we believe personal passions fuel growth. Our unique mentoring program pairs youth with mentors who engage them in activities aligned with their interests—whether it’s music, sports, art, or tech. Unlike traditional foster care programs focused on group recreation, we provide one-on-one experiences, giving youth individual time to explore, connect, and grow. Our approach fosters confidence, emotional regulation, and resilience—helping youth heal, build trust, and envision a brighter future.
Through partnerships with local organizations, colleges, Hip-Hop artists, and other support networks, our community and cultural engagement program enhances therapeutic programming by providing youth with access to diverse cultural, educational, and therapeutic resources.

Launched on November 6, 2024, the Independence Readiness Groups have achieved 95% engagement, with seven out of eight youth participating fully when not in school or the hospital.
Ibukun takes a hands-on approach to preparing youth for adulthood by providing guided, real-world interactions with banks, grocery stores, insurance companies, courts, and other essential resources. This reduces fear and anxiety while building confidence in navigating adult responsibilities.
Studies show life skills training can increase self-sufficiency in foster youth by up to 50%, leading to smoother transitions and greater success in independent living.
At Doc’s Place, our "Whole Health Team" delivers comprehensive, trauma-informed care under one roof. Our multi-disciplinary team—including a Pediatric Nurse Practitioner, Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner, Licensed Therapist, Substance Abuse Counselor, Nutritionists, and Clinical Resident Therapists—ensures seamless coordination of medical and mental health services, closing care gaps for our youth.
With extensive trauma-informed training, our team provides regular assessments, preventative care, and emergency preparedness, reducing health risks and promoting stability. We also consult on medication administration, preventing errors, improving well-being, and educating staff on prescribed treatments for informed proactive care.
This all-in-one approach streamlines diagnoses, treatment, and recovery, fostering independence, resilience, and long-term health.
