Christopher Akiwowo, MBA Executive Director

Christopher A. Akiwowo, MBA, is a seasoned professional serving as the CEO and Executive Director of Ibukun Comprehensive Services, Inc, a distinguished organization based in Chicago, IL. With an MBA from Lewis University, he brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise acquired over 30 years in management, finance, and operations, spanning both the financial and mental health industries. Christopher's commitment to making a positive impact is evident in his extensive background, particularly his 20 years of experience advocating for youth at the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services. His advocacy work emphasizes taking the best interests of adolescents to heart, showcasing a passion for fostering the well-being of the younger generation. As a leader, Christopher A. Akiwowo exemplifies a unique blend of strategic vision, financial acumen, and a deep understanding of the complexities within the mental health sector. His dedication to community service and advocating for youth underscores his commitment to creating a brighter future for those he serves.

LOVE MCPHERSON, DIRECTOR OF QUALITY IMPROVEMENT

With an unwavering commitment to Family Wellness, Love has dedicated over three decades to making a positive impact on the lives of children and families who have faced abuse and neglect. As the President of Love Infinity, Inc., Love serves as a Program Consultant, collaborating with Ibukun to enhance their services. With more than twenty-five years of experience as a Mental Health Professional, Love brings a wealth of knowledge to her role, particularly in the areas of Continuous Quality Improvement, Medicaid Compliance, and Accreditation. Her extensive career has seen her providing mental health services to families and organizations spanning across the United States and beyond, and leaving a trail of transformation and hope in her wake. In addition to her professional endeavors, Love is a Certified Couples and Family Counselor, specializing in healing and strengthening familial bonds. Her expertise as a Relationship Expert has led her to engage with national and international audiences, including prestigious institutions like Northwestern University and DePaul University, as well as corporate giants such as Blue Cross Blue Shield, ComEd, Walmart, Essence, and other Fortune 500 companies. Love's voice has graced prominent media outlets, making her a recurring guest on esteemed platforms like WGN TV, NBC, WGCI, Inspiration 1390AM, ABC’s Windy City Live, WVON 1690AM, WCIU TV, and V103 FM. In 2018, Love was recognized by the EarthHeart Foundation for her contribution to the "Do You See Me" Project, a community initiative spotlighting the confidence, success, and inspiring stories of black women in Chicago. With Love McPherson's expertise and passion at the helm of our Quality Improvement efforts, Ibukun Comprehensive Community Services remains committed to providing exceptional care and support to the youth who depend on our residential group home mental health treatment facility. Love's extensive accomplishments and dedication to family well-being make her an invaluable asset to our team as we continue to make a difference in the lives of vulnerable children on their path to healing and hope.

Rene Chandler, PROGRAM DIRECTOR

Rene Chandler is the Program Director at our residential group home (IBUKUN Comprehensive Community Services). He brings over 25 years of executive, managerial and direct behavioral health service experience. Rene Chandler has spent his entire social work career, serving in poverty-stricken communities throughout the Chicagoland metropolitan area. He is a graduate of the Communities Partnering 4 Peace (CP4P) 1st cohort of certified street outreach workers. Also a trauma informed trainer and has several certificates of completion in the areas of violence prevention, youth advocacy and community outreach. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Social Work from Central State University, Ohio and a master’s degree in Pastoral Counseling from Central Christian University, Ark.

ELAINE SMITh, CLINICAL DIRECTOR

Elaine Smith, NCC, LCPC, has dedicated nearly two decades to trauma therapy, enhancing her extensive clinical experience with roles as an independent author and adjunct professor at National Louis University. Specializing in adult complex trauma, mood, and personality disorders, Elaine employs a tailored, integrative therapeutic approach, with a strong emphasis on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
